Oh, hooray!

I loved the story in April’s Elle Vogue about how the designers behind Edith A. Miller got together.  Apparently, they met and bonded in Fire Island at a party where they showed up wearing the same, stripey knit mens’ shirt.  ”How charming,” I thought.  They then went to track down the mill in Pennsylvania where the shirt was made and harangued the owners until they agreed to produce a line of knitwear designed for women!

So weird when, a week or so later, I was getting dressed and realized as I stared at the tag of the shirt I was putting on - I OWN THAT SHIRT.  I bought it last summer, for $20-30 at the Opening Ceremony store at the Ace Hotel in New York last summer.  The girl at the store said, “Yeah, they’re this old-school brand of mens’ undershirts.  I love mine!”

Oh, the shirt is amazingly comfy, as anything that’s cotton, stretchy, and is black-and-white striped would be… but is simply not cut quite right for me.

Strangely, despite my relatively boyish figure, I have a problem with anything that’s “designed for men”, such as Steven Alan button-downs.  They somehow make my boobs look like they’re placed really low on my torso.  Obviously unflattering.

So long story short, hooray for Edith A. Miller!  I can’t wait to try some of this stuff on and check out the fit!
