My Name - A Tragedy

Noticed as of the past 5 years - people (even friends) often call me Joanna.  

Also, right when I introduce myself to people, I get this reaction: “Did you say Julianne?”

It has totally given me pause to think both, “Is my Joanne-ness so fungible?” and “Am I really mealy-mouthed when I introduce myself?”

Today, when TWO people sent me e-communication beginning, “Hi Joanna!” I realized this was really bugging me.

Well, I can clearly see now that Joanne is on the wane. Alas.  I’ll keep on wavin’ my Joanne flag and enunciating super clearly, but beyond that it’s up to the zeitgeist…
